New River, Haringey/Hackney
The “New River” is an engineered watercourse transporting water from Hertfordshire into London. It is now aged over 400 years old.
At this location, it forms the boundary between the boroughs of Haringey and Hackney.
The preserved chimney, on the right hand side, is part of the Harringay Warehouse District, which was an early 20th Century industrial district. Now it has been repurposed for light industry and creative industries. The lettering on the chimney, "OCC", stands for oriental carpet centre.
