CWT

A conversation this week with a friend about Bowes Moor and the A66 reminded me of the last occasion I photographed a Leyland on that stretch of road many years ago. Here former West Riding C35CWT hammers down one of the dual stretches Westbound for Blackpool. United / Tees had a history of running services to the west coast resorts as registered services but dwindling demand, lack of interest from management & shortage of suitable vehicles led to their withdrawal. This was originally a Wakefield bus for many years along with 34, of course both United & West Riding were in common ownership by that stage and still are under Arriva. August 2000 and I had almost given up with this actually coming, however as I was about to leave a familiar red & cream could be seen bridging the summit in the distance some 30 minutes late.
