Lake Como – Villa del Balbianello and Lenno
This villa and its gardens set on this promontory are quite the stand out. Little wonder that it has become so famous.

'Villa Balbianello was built for Cardinal Angelo Maria Durini at the end of the XVIII century, the Villa stands on the tip of a steep promontory overlooking Lake Como, almost opposite Bellagio. At the beginning of 900, the villa was sold to Bavarian Baron Hermann Hartlaub and finally in 1974 to Count Guido Monzino, the famous explorer, who added to the interior with his amazing collections of Chinese, African and Columbian art as well as 4,000 volumes dedicated to mountaineering and polar expeditions. At his death in 1988, he left the Villa to a trust that runs it and it open to the public.
In the spring of 2006, the movie Casino Royale was filmed in front of the villa. The same villa can also be seen in Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones as the wedding scene of Anankin.'
