American Roach

I found this 2 inch fellow on the side of a building. After serving time aboard a ship that was infested with cockroaches, I quickly became repulsed, grew a passionate hate for them, and swore that I would never be around roaches again.

However, there are several types of cockroaches and interestingly enough not all of them pose problems for humans. The one that has the greatest potential for becoming persistent and troublesome is the German cockroach, which prefers indoor locations. Oriental and American cockroaches occasionally pose problems in moist, humid areas. While German roaches prefer kitchens, bathrooms, food preparation and storage areas, the Oriental and American roaches are usually found in water meter boxes, wood piles, storm drains, sewers, or other cool, dark, damp places. This one must have been getting a suntan.
