During our Hudson River Lighthouse tour this was our first Glimpse of the Olana State Historic Site sitting High on the Hill. After disembarking we had to attempt the search. The history behind this mansion told the story of
Frederic Church was well-known as a painter, but he was also a world traveler, a family man, and a self-taught architect, farmer, and landscape designer. He and his wife Isabel were pious, well-read, and funloving. They raised four children at their estate overlooking the Hudson.
