Temporary Ice

We had two days at -21 f. at the end of January. Then we heated up to 52 f. within a few days after. The Lake Michigan ice cover went through a big melt.

I was thinking yesterday, that with a couple of days at single digits f., the lake ice might be building up again. The water was mostly calm and there was new pancake ice forming nearshore. The extended forecast for the upcoming week shows temperatures well above freezing and rain for Valentine's day. This new ice will be temporary at best.

Have a great week!
