1999 ex-Royal Mail van. V372 LOA : An LDV "Pilot" model. Contractor`s van.

This van is now a contractor`s van who was performing to cut back a pair of Leylandii bushes for me.V372 LOA had covered a huge mileage & a lot of blue smoke was seen blowing out of the exhaust pipe, but the engine was still running quite well!

The bodywork still looked very smart for the age of the van. Not like some other similar models of ex Royal Mail LDV "Pilot" vans that are still running around & look really shabby ! It was the same age of my LDV "Pilot" van with similar registration number of V775 LOA. I was told some time after retiring, that the van I tried to keep looking good by regularly putting it through the van wash we had in place at our office, that it had "gone to the dogs" as it was not cleaned much, & now had dents in the bodywork ! Those days are gone now, as the postmen have much longer rounds now, & the Head office was sold back to Network Rail for the new railway station upgrade project. The vans are not washed unless they have to go to another office several miles away where the workshop for repairs & servicing is now carried out for the vans in this postal area.
