Chicago Museum of Science and Industry model railroad postcard

Chicago Museum of Science and Industry model railroad. Postcard in my collection.

Many of us who grew up in Chicago have fond memories of the original layout. Not that there's anything wrong with today's massive HO pike that replaced it, but the classic O gauge layout was really something to behold as a kid.

Given that the original layout must have been the subject of millions of photographs over its 60-year run at the museum, I've found it s surprisingly difficult to find good photos of it (so if you' have any please dig them out and scan them and post them here on Flickr!)

Scott Orr does have a nice blog on the original layout: midnightrailroader.blogspot.com/p/blog-page_27.html

Towards the bottom of this image- note the fluted stainless steel passenger car siding that formed the walls of the layout.
