SEPTA Norristown Highspeed Line (former Philadelphia & Western interurban) 72nd St. Shops 5/6/89; even at this late date, this place had the most amazing variety of traction equipment hanging around. Work car 402 seen at the front of the line in this photo was acquired second-hand by the P&W in 1943 to replace a work car lost in a fire. 402 had been built around 1920 by the Detroit United Railway. 402 is preserved today at the Rockhill Trolley Museum: rockhilltrolley.org/pw-freight-motor-402/
Behind is wooden work motor 401 (St. Louis Car Co. 1907) and "pickle car" 406 (originally a PTC dump car built in 1923),
