220kV transformer for Eagle Rock Substation 12-4-22 SCE

From the Southern California Edison's historical collection at the Huntington Library. Arrival of two very large transformers for a new substation in 1922. In the other two images, you can see how they transloaded these transformers off of the standard gauge Southern Pacific flatcar onto a 3 ft 6 inch gauge Los Angeles Railway (the city streetcar system) wooden work flat.

This amazing image and many others from the SCE archives can be found online at the Huntington's site- kudos to the team at the library for their ongoing efforts to digitize these historic images and put them on the internet. This site is really worth spending some time on. Please see: hdl.huntington.org/digital/collection/p16003coll2/id/20361
