Market Street Railway 578, built in San Francisco in 1896 by the Hammond Car Co. (who would later make cable cars for the California St. cable line), on a private charter 5/26/10. The car pre-dates the use of airbrakes on street railway equipment, and remains equipped only with hand brakes.
