Hudson running clip IMG_1509

Continuing the holiday toy train theme.....between 1930 and 1937, A.C. Gilbert made a specialized Erector set that built (among other models) an enormous Hudson locomotive. www.jitterbuzz.com/erecsets.html#huds

With tender, the Hudson is about 4 feet long. Here are a pair of pictures of it alongside a Lionel "O" gauge Hudson to better illustrate the size. The driving wheels on the Erector Hudson could also be connected to a motor for operation, although this was strictly an in-place operation with the engine sitting on stand-offs to keep the drivers just a hair off the rails. Here's a video of mine in action.
