Redondo Jct roundhouse 1999
Five 1999 photos at the former Santa Fe (then Amtrak) Redondo Junction roundhouse near Los Angeles Union Station, This was shortly before the roundhouse was torn down as part of the project to build the present day Amtrak servicing facility. OERM had been invited down to look at a few items for possible acquisition and we got a nice tour. Just visible in the background is the tender for the Santa Fe 3751 steam engine, which lived in the roundhouse.
Today it all looks different down here, although the turntable and its fan tracks remain in use minus the old roundhouse. And the 3751 still lives here, parked on the fan tracks.
