Portland Jun00 1
Amtrak and Tri-Met Light Rail share the former UP bridge, June 2000. The upper (street and LRT) and lower (railroad) decks of the bridge move separately. Normally only the lower deck is raised, although for big ships both can be raised. Raising both decks cuts off access to downtown for several Tri-Met LRT lines, so it's only done occasionally, such as for "Fleet Week" when US Navy ships come to visit Portland.
If you zoom in on the photo you can see the old UP herald on the bridge counterweight.
