Cronkhite models at SDMRM 12-12-08 PC120022 a

Minton Cronkhite was a famous builder of scale models and large model railroad layouts in the early days of the hobby.He was the builder of the first Santa Fe-sponsored layout at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry in the 1940's, as well as a layout for the 1935 Pacific International Exposition in San Deigo's Balboa Park. Today Balboa Park is the home of the San Diego Model Railroad Museum where these photos were taken of some surviving examples of Mr. Cronkhite's early O scale Santa Fe streamliners.
