Redondo Jct roundhouse 1999 3
Five 1999 photos at the former Santa Fe (then Amtrak) Redondo Junction roundhouse near Los Angeles Union Station. This was shortly before the roundhouse was torn down as part of the project to build the present day Amtrak servicing facility. OERM had been invited down to look at a few items for possible acquisition and we got a nice tour. 551 was a rebuilt Santa Fe SW1200 (EMD 1953), designated an SSB 1200.
Today it all looks different down here, although the turntable and its fan tracks remain in use minus the old roundhouse.
