Jack-by-the-Hedge - Alliaria petiolata

Plants are often found growing along the margins of hedges, giving rise to the old British folk name of Jack-by-the-hedge. Other common names include Garlic Mustard, Garlic Root, Hedge Garlic, Sauce-alone, Jack-in-the-bush, Penny Hedge and Poor Man's Mustard.

Add finely chopped hedge garlic leaves for bite and a hint of garlic and colour to salads, dips, mayonnaise and sandwiches. Use the leaf in pesto, frittatas and soups or add it at the last minute to sauces
