Cardiff Corporation Tramways 360

26/08/2017. Over recent months, Cardiff Bus have faced increasing competition between the city centre and the Bay. New Adventure Travel's X8 and X11 both compete with the municipal operators route 6, as does Stagecoach's 132.

In a bid to set themselves apart from the rest, Cardiff Bus have hired one of it's former vehicles from a local preservation group, Cardiff Transport Preservation Group (CTPG). Set to work under the DDA "twenty days" rule, she too has seen use on specific short workings of the 6.

However, prior to entering service (once again), she was restored to her original condition and re-gained her Cardiff Corporation Tramways livery. A total of 54 Alexander AL bodied Bristol VR 360's were delivered to the company between 1978 and 1979, with just 359 and 360 being convertible to open-top.

After finishing service in the Welsh capital, WTG 360T saw use with the Bath Bus Company, Solent Blue Line, Southern Vectis, Classic Bus and Crosville Motor Services. She is pictured here heading back into the city centre.
