Nikon N90s
Possibly the most underrated Nikon available very cheaply today is the N90s. It's loaded with features, is more capable in some ways than even the F4, and is smaller and lighter than the F5. In the 90s and early 2000s, many of them were primary (and backup) bodies to pros the world over. It's not "pretty" by classic camera standards, but if you're worried more about the image you make than the image you portray, it's one of the best bangs for your buck.
I bought this one (and the MB-10 grip) used in the summer of 2000 and it's served me well since.
