Interactions with Nature
My diptych is a result of my attempt to capture the interaction between humans and nature. I set out to the Washington Park Arboretum with the hopes of catching a tree hugger or two, but what I found changed my expectations. Similar to Vito Acconci's "Blinks", I captured an image whenever I observed traces of human interaction with trees: this came in the form of carvings, litter, and even a repository for lost items. The image on top shows one of these carvings I found. The image on bottom shows a house key I found attached to a tree. I chose these images because I felt both captured my intent of highlighting the uniqueness of individual interactions with nature.
