The Tides: Turtles Hatching

The turtles still lay their eggs on Maziwe Island off the Pangani coast but it is now inundated at high tide, which kills the eggs. An NGO is now rescuing the eggs and rearing them on the mainland beach.

 

The young turtles are incredible, having an faultless sense of direction, heading unerringly for the sea.
