The City of Alaylon

The century-old merchant city of Alaylon is a beacon of prosperity and power for the Cerulean kingdom.

It is also known as "The Crown of Cerulea" resting upon the brow of the heavens.

Its signature shape is as much art as function.

The city is nearly impossible for large ships to attack, for the shape of the walls creates a steady spiraled vortex inside the city, which keeps invading ships from coming up or down upon it. This current also keeps the city upright like a spinning plate.

Alaylon has an annual cycle - it drifts along a massive jetstream that loops along the interior of the Cerulean border in a circuitous route.

No one is really sure how such a heavy structure floats so effortlessly, even with the assisting winds, because the legendary architect who built it - Sir Alberto Mauriccio - wrote all the plans and layouts in his own invented language so no one could copy his precious life's work.

... It's finally up!! :) This was the centerpiece I built for the Isles of Aura display at Brickworld Chicago 2018.

This brute was a monster to transport and set up, but this 4-foot by 4-foot, 3-foot tall, structure came out exactly as I wanted.

I hope you guys like it and good job to everyone in the Innovalug for putting together such an awesome collaborative display.
