Just Rewards

The indentations in the rock are four boys who, having been told by their parents not to leave the cave under any circumstances, see Kurpany the devil dog run past the cave mouth. Terrified, but obedient to their parents, they stay inside the cave, and Kurpany eventually leaves. They are rewarded for following their parents' wishes by being immortalised in stone.
