Free City of Essen - PzKpfw-D. 'Donars Rache'
Left to right: Kapitän Klaus DeWitt, Steuermann/Maschinenmaat Oswald Lütz, Panzerkanonier Peter "Pips" Strelitz
Background: Always on the lookout for an edge on the battlefield and gain superiority through mechanical prowess and engineering skills, the general staff ordered the minds of Karsten Metalwerke to find ways to breathe new life into the wagon fort tactic of old and update its use for the current battlefields.
A mobile killing machine without precedent was born. Metal sheeting covered the wooden frame and was installed at an angle, so that projectiles would ricochet off it. Inside a cannon was fitted, while on top there was a turret to serve as a lookout post for the commander. The metal behemoth was powered by an advanced steam engine, which's design was based largely of Corrish studies and Essian field tests. It could reach a top speed of 10km/h in a mere two minutes. Enough to pierce enemy lines and create a wedge for the cavalry or other units to follow.
Practical as the Essians are, the engineers and the War Department dubbed the creation Panzerkampfwagen - Dampf, or Armoured War Wagon - Steam; in short: PzKpfw-D..
A crew of three daredevils was picked from among top fitting profiles in the army and assigned to this first Panzer unit.
Wotanist faith dictates that all things have their own spirit and as such the Dampfpanzer's machine spirit, too was blessed by a Rune Priest and bestowed the name of 'Donars Rache' (Donar's/Thor's Rage).

Notes: First off to my fellow BoBS members: no, I won't be introducing this as a legit unit in the game ;P .
Obviously, this is a LEGO version of Games Workshop's Steam Tank. After building the Helstorm Battery, I wanted to tackle another model as the steampunk/engineering vibe really fits my own background of Essen. I was heavily inspired by the models of Jan Slavinger and Brickhammer, without whose models I probably wouldn't have been able to build this.
More pictures are coming because there are plenty of details to show, but I only have 1 A4 sheet of grey paper, which is too small for this MOC and thus requires extensive Photoshopping to create extra background. Consider this a teaser.
PS: I hate the way the figures turned out all blurry. They looked fine on the camera and I only noticed they were this crappy when I already got started on the editing.
PPS: the turret can't spin, but on the plus side all figures actually fit in the model! :D
