I grew up immersed in the UK graffiti culture from 90-98 and was used to working with the very limited color range that we had available to us from domestic lines of paint. We always drooled with envy over the extensive color range of Krylon and Rust-Oleum shown in the classic graffiti books like Subway Art & Spraycan Art. At the time, most of the colors that were available in the UK came were smaller scale cans from lines of car paints like: Car Plan, Cycle Style, Hycote, Holtz & Dupli-Color.
It wasn't until I started collecting cans seriously, around seven years ago, that I realized just how many different, independent U.S. brands existed. After a few solo transactions, I met up with Slyle 133 who schooled me on the history and specifics. After seeing his meticulously-arranged extensive (that's an understatement), spray paint collection first-hand, I was hooked. It totally blew my mind! Soon after, Slyle 133 and I co-founded www.capmatchescolor.com, a project dedicated to preserving and documenting the history of spray paint brands and colors - worldwide, that are long since deleted.
