Pico House

The Pico House is a historic old Los Angeles hotel built by Pio Pico who was the Last Mexican Governor of California...... Construction was finished for the three story 33-room Italianate style hotel in 1870........ shown here is the rather bare inner courtyard now but at the time it was the most extravagant and lavish hotel in Southern California.

The hotel didn't have a lot of glory years as Pio Pico started having financial troubles and lost the hotel to the bank.........In the ensuing years the building fell into decline until it was given to the State of California in 1953....... now restored and part of the El Pueblo de Los Angeles State Historic Monument this building is now listed as a California Historical Landmark and is occasionally used for various events and art exhibits
