swedish meatballs, dinner tonight

ok i have no idea why this dish is called that.. but if someone knows, please let me know.. it has allspice, garlic, pepper and salt in the meat.. onions, red pepper, bay leaves,lots of mushrooms in a broth of red wine and beef stock over egg noodles.. it was quite yummy and a dish my mom made often..( we are of polish/canuck descent, so see my confusion?)
