I decided that I wanted to break up the single material pattern on the cover with a band of colour on the spine. to match the inside maroon card mounting, i chose some dark red faux-suede material.

 

I ironed it to give it fold over edges, and trimmed it to allow a 1 inch foldover for the inside of the cover.

 

Done
