Chickadee Counting
My 13 year old daughter and I took part in the Christmas Bird Count this year in Devon, Alberta. It was a chilly day with snow flurries and a windchill that kept our teeth chattering but as always, we enjoyed our time together. She is the one that has all the bird identifying knowledge and I just tag along for the chance to take some pictures and secretly jump up and down that she still wants to hang out with her mom :)
We were given the Clifford E. Lee Nature Sanctuary as our counting zone and quickly realized that these little chickadees are pretty hard to count because they would follow us around. They are quite accustomed to having the sanctuary visitors feeding them seeds out of their hands.
