Today was the start of our D.S.T. which means we lost an hour's sleep last night and it was dark until 7 a.m. This was the sight when I went outside to get the newspaper - it looks like the sky is on fire and it's warm! It's called a Santa Ana condition, where hot winds blow off the deserts and out to sea. Here, near the coast we don't get much of the wind, but it's hot and dry, dry, dry. Today will get to 84F. or 28.8 C.
Santa Anas are called "devil winds" for a good reason - they bring heat, dryness and fires. SOOC
