Travel To Firenze, Arrival, Group Meet, Tour Of Firenze May 12, 2023

This day I left the 'outdoor Museum' city of Rome to start the volunteer trip for which I actual embarked on this trip.
After an early morning breakfast at the B&B, I walked to Roma Ostiense train station and took the train to Roma Termini from my train to Florence departed.
The train to Florence was very comfortable with breakfast and drinks provided. It was a fast ride to Florence and before I knew I was disembarking the train in Florence. The walk to our hotel in Florence from the train station was a mere 5 minutes.

When I reached the hotel I was by our volunteer trip leaders who helped me check in. After I dropped off my luggage in my room I met my roommate.

We now had some time free for ourselves until dinner time when we had our official orientation meeting with the entire volunteer group and the trip leaders.

Since we both had not had any lunch we headed out to a nearby restaurant recommended by the front desk personnel. However, just as we were about to head out it started pouring rain and golf ball size hail. We waited until the storm passed and the restaurant didn't disappoint. We both had just a light soup but it was delicious. After lunch we headed out for a walking tour of the local area and sights that were nearby. Although the sites were amazing it was crowded everywhere we went. We made a decision that we would go back all those place the next morning if we were able to wake up early enough.

We made it back to the hotel on time for our orientation. It was fun to meet new volunteers and also volunteers who I had met on my other trips. After the orientation we went out for dinner at a local restaurant a short walking distance away from the hotel. Dinner was delicious and we all had a good time. After discussing the plans for the next morning we all retired to our rooms for the night.
