one that didn't work (crappy shots)
I thought I'd post up one of the triptychs that didn't work so well. I like the way the three panels capture the city and people, almost putting the viewer in the picture, but at times it just doesn't go. I think being able to visualize the three images as one is important though I do think hard about each individual picture too. The three images here, just don't seem to match up well, especially with the blur of the passing cars. I also caught the cross walk right on the edge separating it from the middle image. I think it's important to create a flow in the three images. I'm trying to incorporate movement into the pictures, but it's difficult and I need to get my shutter speed down. The time between the pictures also make it a bit touch and go and sometimes I wait a couple of minutes between shots to get what I want. There are two lights at this intersection and I waited a couple of cycles to get the right amount of traffic passing by. Okay, I didn't get the right amount of traffic passing by. Each particular intersection has it's own 'personality' and I usually study it before decided whether or not to set up. Lastly EV comes into play. I can get a rather large difference in EV across the images, the Walls triptych I think was about a 4 stop difference and I thought about using a different shutter for each pic(I ended up taking two sets, one at one second and the other at three. I knew in testing that the film would hold up to the longer time and that's the image you see). In this case here, it was only about three stops and I just exposed at the middle value since Delta 100/400 has a pretty wide latitude.
Putting these things together ain't as easy as it looks and I do make some crappy shots. You folks just don't get to see them.
The crappy shots I mean.
