Alfred C Gardner designed this electrically-powered Sherzer rolling lift road bridge. The contractors were Sir William Arrol & Co, who built just about every important bridge in Britain: both Forth Bridges, Severn Bridge, Tay Bridge, Tower Bridge, Middlesborough Transporter Bridge ... It would be easier to list the bridges they didn't build.
