Old School inscription

Nice to know that they didn't bother with the easier scripts, this would have weeded out some of those latter day grammar school enthusiasts. (Though there is some worn latin at the bottom, together with the date 1584. That is the year in which Robert Johnson, Rector of North Luffenham, founded two grammar schools, one each at Oakham and Uppingham, to provide free education for the sons of local people.) Now of course both schools have become Public Schools: elite institutions for the children of the rich.
