Windswept.
68006 “Pride of the North” heads 4S88, DRS’ late running 1000 Sellafield - Motherwell TMD rake of JNA wagons round “Windy Corner”, Tanyard Bay, Parton on 28 June 2024.
The sharply curved section of railway here was known to local railwaymen as Windy Corner, due to its exposed position. I'd say it was pretty windy there on this day, I took these pictures from the bluff above Foundry Road and I struggled to keep my hat on or hold my camera steady.
Beyond the train is Whitehaven's West Pier and lighthouse. Entrance to the harbour is directly in front of the pier while beyond it is Saltom Bay and the cliffs leading to St Bees North Head.
