Mechanical Signalling Mecca.

153324 (Northern's 0907 Sellafield - Lancaster) approaches Barrow-in-Furness station on 13 January 2012.

The scene is viewed from the station’s bay platform (platform three) that is mainly used by trains starting from Barrow for Millom and beyond as far as Carlisle or those from the north terminating here.

BARROW-IN-FURNESS signal box is on the left of the picture with the bay platform down starting signal prominent in front of it. The down section signal (towards Park South) is seen to the left of the 153 unit with the up home junction signal to its right. The left hand signal is off for the route through platform two with the right hand arms for trains into the bay. Each of the standard arms has a calling on arm below it.
