4S90, a Willesden – Mossend intermodal heads east at Docker on 9 January 1999 its consist including one of the four segment, articulated piggyback sets loaded on this day with three Parcel Force semi-trailers.
The northbound trailers seemed to run in a scheduled intermodal but the returns appeared to have been operated with just the one parcel force set, presumably to meet Parcel Force’s schedule. Providing a locomotive just for one set can’t have been viable, especially given the complicated loading/unloading of the semi-trailers at each terminal.
The Eurospine sets were built by Thrall, York in 1996 and predictably only operated until 2002.
