Jakar Dzong (white bird castle) or Jakar Yugyal Dzong in Bumthang District was constructed in 1549, by the Tibetan Lam Nagi Wangchuk, the Dzong played an important role as the fortress of defense like any other Dzongs in Bhutan, today it servie as Administration house for Bumthang Dristrict. The name “Jakar” derives from the word " bjakhab"(white bird).
