Utah Astrophotography
Skull Valley Stars
Drove out to Skull Valley, Utah, about 45 miles west of Salt Lake City, in the middle of the (flat and barren) valley is a large rock formation that sticks out like a sore thumb called Lone Rock. The main rock formation is probably about 75 feet tall and all around the edge are smaller rocks about 10-15 feet tall. About 5 miles away is the massive Cargill Salt Factory at the edge of the Great Salt Lake which is illuminating the foreground believe it or not.
This is a panorama of 6 shots taken with my Nikon D600 and Nikon 50mm f1.8g lens on a Sky Watcher Star Adventurer mount. Each shot is a 2.5 minute exposure at f2.5 and ISO 800.
