John Parsons, Jr.
Talco, Texas High School opened in 1939
With over 300 thousand square feet of just classroom space, a concert auditorium with balcony that seated a 1000 people, 40 foot tall ceilings, all done acoustically for sound and push button electric drapes that once opened and closed across the grand stage where such famous groups as the Stamps Quartet and many others performed through the years, no amount of money was spared to provide students with the best educational and sports facilities, winning outstanding national awards for design and surpassing all safety achievement standards for 1939.
I remember walking through the granite and marble hallways and staircases always feeling at home there as a child returning all through the years...and coming to realize, that some places are not smaller than the way you remember.
I wish I could go back just once more..
