Vase Reef Update 8

Peace To All,

Well, here We are in our 8th month!!! So happy We're here so far. All corals are doing GREAT!!! Still haven't dosed the vase. I think the weekly water changes and mid-week 25%, has maintained this pico running with no problems at all. I fragged the Fire and Ice Zoanthids and will be trading this frag for another colony of colorful Zoas. Brandon's hard work and dedication, has paid off for all who attempt to keep a Vase Reef. I have kept a bowl reef in the late 80's for 2 years but when the seahorses died, although the corals were doing great, I decided to break it down. I will try to find the pics of my seahorse 2 gal bowl soon and put them up.

The airstone in this vase really help keep CO2 out, keeping the ph stabilzed. Plus, it adds to a very natural flow of water movement for all the corals, including the demanding SPS corals. Ive also added my Green Bay Packers Zoanthids frag to the bottom (used to be behind the Duncan coral).

I don't have much coraline algae and none on the glass and that's because I rathered the corals benefit from the calcium in this 1.5 gal. than the coraline algae on the walls. I treat the vase like day 1. Super clean with my LARGE magnifying glass. 22 species of corals in all, in 1.5gal of saltwater, is simply AMAZING!!

That's the force of LIFE!!!

Stay tune for future updates as I plan on removing that medium colony of Green Star Polyp rock on the upper right since it spread unto a small rock, I can make room for my cat's paw coral on the right bottom, and move to that spot. Also, I'm moving the Montipora (bottom left), to the top (left), and put my 6 heads Blastomussa Merletti in that spot. I'm also bringing down the Nuclear Cyphastrea (top right), to the bottom right, where the Cat's Paw is on the pic now. Also bringing the Fire and Ice zoanthids (top left), to the bottom. Big changes on this 8th month, but it will create more space and less invasive corals.

Blessings To All.
