The Routemaster became the standard London double deck bus of the late 1950s and 1960s. Even more so than many other London types, Routemasters continued in service for years more than the typical 15 year bus life. www.busspotter.com/RM/RM.html
RML3 was one of four prototype Routemaster buses evaluated by London Transport between 1954 and 1958. It had Leyland engine (hence the L in RML) and, uniquely for a Routemaster, a Weymann body. After early service evaluation, it spent most of working life as a driver trainer bus, being withdrawn in 1972.
