12th Century Frescos in the Byzantine Church of St. Jason and St. Sosipater, Corfu

The church was once extensively decorated with frescos but these were plastered over and white-washed in 1820, a process which largely destroyed the painting. The figures here are believed to be St. Pancras of Tauromenium on the left and St. Nicandros of Myra in the centre. A third figure at right is largely obliterated. Scholars suggest that this and other frescos are 12th century work.
