Detail of the 12th century Fresco in the Byzantine Church of St. Jason and St. Sosipater, Corfu

The church was once extensively decorated with frescos but these were plastered over and white-washed in 1820, a process which largely destroyed the painting. The fresco is believed to date from the 12th century.
