Egypt, Aswan, Kalabsha Temple of Augustus, AD 1st C.

Originally built by the Roman emperor Augustus at Kalabsha on the site of an earlier temple, the building was moved to its present position (which was re-named Kalabsha) as part of the relocation of monuments which would otherwise have been flooded by the waters of Lake Nasser behind the Aswan High Dam. Augustus, on the right below his cartouche, makes offerings to the traditional Egyptian Gods.
