Adventures of a Lady Margaret Boat Club scarf in the Swinging Sixties

St John's College, Cambridge, rows under the auspices of its founder, Lady Margaret Beaufort, and dresses up in bright Lancastrian red. The scarf is essentially a red flannel blanket worn folded in three lengthwise and is useful for as many purposes as Ford Prefect's towel.
