Not a juvenile bullfinch
I thought it was. I'm sure I saw one of our resident adult bullfinches the other day feeding a great big bullfinch-type bird with a black head and bill, and concluded it was a youngster. Reliable sites tell me that young bullfinches do not have black heads and bills, so I am forced to abandon that idea and assume this is an eclipsed adult.
Perhaps the feeding behaviour I saw was a final flirtation before the breeding season finished?
