Absinthe friends
This is a tad odd. I don't actually drink - well, a seasonal sip of Christmas mulled wine perhaps! - but I was intrigued by the mythical status of absinthe within 19th culture and suddenly decided to enquire within and satisfy my curiosity. Getting a glass is really quite a performance and all rather jolly. The taste is dominated by aniseed, fennel and wormwood and frankly people either like it or loathe it. Either way, they all enjoy watching the proceedings. I am purely the ringmaster rather than the imbiber. I shall now return to my fruit juices and fizz...
