Day 14: School Pickup
Schools look a bit different than when I was in a uniform, thankfully. My kids' school, like most I see around the place, is covered in bright paintings and well-tended gardens.
My school days were spent in places that looked like penitentiaries, all centred around a sweltering black moonscape we called the parade ground. A lot of schools ripped up the bitumen and grassed it over, but my kids' school doesn't seem to have ever had a parade ground. They miss out on the excitement of seeing other kids fainting, not to mention fainting themselves. I never hit the ground during parade, but I came pretty close a couple of times.
