Among Speedsters there is an understanding that the faster you go, the more at risk you are of losing your way and ending up trapped in the speed force. To combat this one needs to focus on a single object, person, or idea in order to keep themselves grounded. The term “lightning rod” has been adopted among the speedsters as the product of this fact.
To many a lightning rod is commonly another person to whom they share a special bond with. The bond shared between two individuals can be an effective lightning rod, however the bond can be broken if one side becomes deceased. Others choose an ideal or belief to keep them grounded.
